14 mbps on wireless, Its HSPDA

Forget about GPRS, +EDGE and even CDMA2000 which enables many of us to access internet at 115kpbs. HSPDA is a new avatar of wireless technology.

The HSDPA system is designed to allow users to view live streaming television among other mobile broadband services via their handsets. The companies claim the HSDPA system is seven times faster than Qualcomm Inc.’s code division multiple access (CDMA) evolution data optimized (EVDO) technology and five times faster than Europe’s wideband CDMA network. via Michael Sciannamea

A joint effort between South Korea’s LG Electronics and Canada’s Nortel Networks has brought about the development of a wireless phone that boasts transmission data speed of 14 megabits per second in the test environment. The phone is based on a new wireless broadband technology dubbed high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA).
