Subscription price beating complex

Here is a wonderful article on benefits of charging a service as subscription & not as per usage by Tom Evslin and I just flashbacked to find that even I recently upgraded to Reliance broadband package which allows me to access internet unlimited (offcourse with the upper cap of 1GB) from my CDMA phone.

Hot example, Napster which has already started given competition to Apple's iTunes by introducing Napstet-to-go services. Napster Vs iTunes here is the report

Subscription and portable subscriptions for media are ultimately going to be the most profitable and prevelant business models....and value to consumers.

RealNetworks' Rhapsody, GamePass, SuperPass, RadioPass are examples of models that will take off. Napster's subscription services are other examples.

Ultimately, there could be hybrid models where the subscription fee includes a few track-purchases bundled.
